« As a child I was encouraged to look around me and pay attention to details in nature: barnacles growing upon rocks in shallow water, the different tones of rust on a chain washed ashore…I often begin to work with an open-ended idea of what I am going to create. I first think of a general shape and then experiment with how I wish for it to exist in space. Next, I gather materials and allow my hands to follow their instinctive course, letting imagination lead the way. What I enjoy most in my practice is working with my hands. We are naturally afforded such beautiful tools, I am forever intrigued by what one may compose and convey through an imaginative application of these wondrous instruments. I’m inspired by nature’s patterns and formations, and by the way time transforms them. I’m also fascinated with native handicraft and the use of natural elements to create tools and artifacts. My goal is to continue to explore such influences by bringing together natural elements and materials of diverse textures in order to create hybrid portraits that illustrate an imagined memory.

All my work is made in Paris by hand, and the artisans that I collaborate with are all based in France ».
