IBU
In the early 1990's IBU began work on a collection of functional sculptures. Passionate about fine material and craftsmanship, IBU spent countless hours working with her bronze caster on alloys and finishes. The ancient sand-casting process produces stippled surfaces that trap the light. The black patina gives the bronze a dark gloss, whereas the grey bronze finish mixes the modesty of manganese with the warmth of copper. IBU's bronzes sometimes meet with exotic woods, lava stones from Volvic in France, centuries-old terracotta slabs, or even black granite from Zimbabwe. Out of this pristine meeting of art and craft comes a collection of pieces combining simplicity.
